The event was themed as “Future City, Future Architecture/ Scaling Up
Intelligent & Ecological Campus”, in which original ideas, methods and paradigms in response to the innovation and entrepreneur-oriented needs of cities have been explored and tested. Lectures and field trips offer various activities alongside the main design / project workshop. Results from the summer school have been documented and published, and the projects developed within the 2016 C3S have culminated in an open review by an international jury. The top three projects have been awarded with a prize. The event took place in Shanghai, China, during one week, from June 29th (Wednesday) to July 6th.
There were three major objectives of this course:
- to use Tongji’s Siping campus as a living lab for city projects;
to provide students with advanced design concepts, tools and methodologies - to improve their trans-disciplinary skills on innovative projects;
- to investigate and test the scalability, sustainability and market potential of the ideas behind innovative projects.
